Which Institutions?
The education systems are diverse and varying all over the world. Hence, it is important to find out about the different systems and which one you are most comfortable with. Likewise, you must also decide on the kind of education you want. You have to investigate the subjects and type of courses which best meet your requirements and where to study them.

It is more important than ever to make the right choice of not just course but also institution. Choices should be made on the basis of reliable information - not dated, inaccurate impressions of distant institutions. Pay attention to issues such as:

  1. The syllabus that best suits your needs,
  2. The relevance of the course to future employment,
  3. The teaching and assessing methods employed,
  4. The provision and quality of on-campus facilities,
  5. The level of learning support and pastoral care,
  6. The physical and geographical environment in which a particular institution is located,
  7. And most importantly, the costs.
Universities vary in their standing and have strengths in different areas. It is only useful if it helps you to choose the university that best meets your needs and your particular circumstances, allow you to develop to your maximum potential and gives you the best learning and living experience. In this regard, it is important to recognize that what is an excellent choice for your best friend or your cousin may be a poor choice for you.

A University education is an investment in your future. It is an investment that will reward you all your life, provided you invest wisely by making fully informed, qualitative judgments about tertiary institutions and making the right choice and right decisions about which university to go to and what course to take.

It is important that you know exactly what you are aiming for, before you set out for your studies; you aspire to graduating with a university degree. It is imperative to make the right choice of which course to pursue and which university to study for a satisfying future.

Know your Career Choice
The choice of course options open to you is enormous. However, you have to note that some higher education courses are clearly aimed at producing graduates for particular careers, while some jobs require graduates in a particular subject area. You have to give thought to the relevance of the degree or discipline to the career you have in mind. This does not mean, however, that you have to choose a subject that you do not enjoy. On the contrary, the course you pick must interest and stimulate you. What is important is to make sure that the chosen course does actually enable you to enter your preferred employment area.
You have to think long and hard about the career you hope to have and find out the links between your course of study and the career you hope to follow.
