6,000 Express Entry candidates invited with 417 CRS score

Canada held its second-largest ever Express Entry draw in which 6,000 candidates were invited to apply for permanent skilled migration to Canada with a CRS score of 417 points.

This latest round of the Express Entry draw was held on April 16, 2021. All the candidates invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada belonged to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.

The draw, conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), invited 1,000 more Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent Canadian immigration than the previous CEC-only invitation round.

Invited candidates also needed to have 15 points less than the previous draw on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Candidates who were issued invitations to apply (ITAs) by IRCC in this round of the invitation draw needed to submit their Express Entry profiles before March 1, 2021.

After this round of the invitation draw, Canada has invited more than 55,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent migration to Canada in 2021.

Compared to this time last year, the number of ITAs issued to Express Entry candidates has almost doubled, as Canada continues to drive up its migrant intake as part of its commitment to inviting more than 1.2 million permanent migrants to the country by 2023.

Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three federal immigration programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Applicants who wish to be considered for permanent Canadian immigration are required to submit their profiles in the Express Entry pool. These profiles are evaluated by IRCC – Canada’s immigration department – and given scores based on a number of factors, including age, level of education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.

The Canadian government invites candidates whose profiles are awarded enough points against the cutoff score for each invitation round to apply for permanent migration to Canada.

The biggest invitation round held by IRCC was held on February 13, 2021, in which 27,332 Express Entry candidates were invited to apply for Canadian PR.
