Saskatchewan invites 280 PNP candidates for Canadian PR

Saskatchewan invited 280 skilled migration candidates with work experience in one of 63 targeted occupations to apply for a provincial nomination in its newest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.

This round of Saskatchewan’s PNP draw, held on July 21, 2021, saw 280 targeted applicants for permanent residency in Canada issued invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian immigration.

Applicants for Canadian immigration under the International Skilled Worker category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) were issued ITAs for a provincial nomination in this iteration of Canada’s periodic invitation draws.

Of the 280 candidates who were invited to apply for a nomination by Saskatchewan for Canadian immigration in this round of the invitation draw, 84 may be eligible for the Express Entry subcategory of the SINP, and the remaining 196 candidates through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.

In addition to work experience related to one of the 63 in-demand occupations in Saskatchewan, immigration candidates also needed to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 77 to obtain a nomination from Saskatchewan’s provincial government in this round of Canada’s invitation draws.

Moreover, invited candidates needed Educational Credential Assessments to demonstrate that their level of education was comparable to Canadian standards.

The Occupations In-Demand subcategory of the SINP functions as a base PNP, and is for highly skilled workers who have work experience in one of Saskatchewan’s in-demand occupations, but do not have an employment offer from an employer in the province.

This subcategory is also open to Canadian immigration applicants who do not have an Express Entry profile.

To apply for Canadian immigration under the Occupations In-Demand subcategory of the SINP, applicants need to create an EOI profile in Saskatchewan’s online application system.

This allows Saskatchewan to evaluate the EOI profiles submitted in its online system, based on the age, education, previous work experience, language ability, and connections to the province that demonstrate how applicants might settle in after moving to Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan provincial government then scores the EOI profiles out of 100 points, with the highest-scoring applicants being nominated and invited to apply for a provincial nomination by the Canadian province.

Express Entry is Canada’s skilled migration application management system, which manages the pool of immigration candidates under three of the main economic-class programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates having Express Entry profiles are also required to create EOI profiles for Saskatchewan’s online application portal to be considered for a provincial nomination.

Candidates who are nominated by a Canadian province are awarded an additional 600 points on their profiles, which effectively guarantees them an ITA for permanent Canadian immigration.
